Victor's MOB
VATAFF PROJECT
Moving Sound System
Profound bulgarian.
Bulgarian, because it is looking for inspiration in our folklore,
but profound because it reaches to staggering esoteric roots.
The dive into the esoteric won't surprise those, who witnessed
some of the performances of Victor's Mob. Anyway, the whole
ambient touches one or another part of the esoteric. But it
starts to sound pretentiously. So, Victor Marinov, the main
performer and mental motor of the projects, reaches something,
which, as a sound and in any other way, can scare you a lot.
Things, known by our people, known that they exist. They cannot
be explained rationally.
Associations with Midsummer Day,
with fairy people and similar ones are more than appropriate.
I am very reserved to excessive folklore affiliations but
this here is put an a new basis. From one side the ability
of Victor to organize unbelievably colourful and full of emotion
sound pictures is a fact, but the support of Shtoni Kokoudev
/bagpipe, vocals and horn/ and the percussion of Panayot Angelov,
as well as the female vocals, turn the whole album into some
kind of digital hallucination, which makes you fear even to
think what will come out of it. Because the power of emotions
reaches hard for the brain peaks in the curves of the bagpipe
and the rapid rhythm of the bass sound of the horn.
You are
not wrong, I'm talking about emotion, perfectly transmitted
through sound and coloured with elusive feeling of ground
beliefs from our lands. Or about shamanic rite somewhere in
the east. You understood why in this case folklore stops being
folklore, didn't you - from this point of view, the geographic
and ethnic distinction lose their limiting ability.
A lot
of words, right? For something, which, on the other hand,
while frightening, is just beatiful.
